In business, we are uncertain about the future, as we have never been before. It directly translates to our own future and well being. They seem to be severely threatened now. The Euro zone crisis, the future of the US-economy, the slow down of the merging markets, all resulting in increasing criticism of capitalism and the downside of it for those who are not at the gaining end. Which is true for most people living on our planet now.

From my point of view uncertainty is the driving force in the universe as quantum physicists tell us for some time. Yet with the limited capacity of the left hand side of our brain and five senses, we are unable to appreciate this uncertainty in recent years. You can compare it to our view of the world a couple of centuries ago.

The earth was already complete with continents and seven oceans. Yet our explorers needed to amend their maps of the planet, as they discovered new territory. Discovering new territories always mend uncertainty, danger and for many death. The ones who survived the journey into uncharted land exploited others to their own benefit. Just turn to our history books and you’ll find out which nation lived well because of what its colonies and trade wars provided. The time of the colonies is over. But the way people look at the certainty of who is supposed to gain at the loss of others is still the same.

What happens to the world now visible to very body on TV or the internet happens for centuries, but few people really want to know. Those who are more powerful than others and have more means to start with, take what they want by force from other people, nations and the earth. This malpractice, if I may say so, becomes transparent to everybody because its scale, consequences and visibility have increased. And, its consequences cannot be limited to those any more who were planned to be the “losers” right from the start of the power game. The losers always lived in uncertainty. Will I still be alive tomorrow? What will I eat tomorrow? Is there a tomorrow for my children? I lived and worked in such an environment whilst I did my Ph.D. studies in China right after the student massacre in the summer of 1989.

What happens in the western economic world now is that the uncertainty becomes conscious, also to those who did know very little about what that means for their own lives, professional future and well being in the last couple of decades.

To regain certainty in business in an interconnected universe, we have to become more conscious of the totality “out there”. We have to think, speak, act and feel constantly that is all one. We need to live the human being every minute of the day; when we are working, employing people, using resources, producing products, visions or strategies to sell.

Our crisis is not a crisis of capitalism. It is a crisis of the human being. The human being inside of us has degenerated to a “human doing” and “human having”.  Find the “human being” inside of you, live it in appreciation of all other human beings, and the crises will be over. We will also appreciate that there is uncertainty in our future for everyone, but in the sense of fair opportunities, not threads. If you are living at the cost of others, fix it, now. Don’t wait for others to go first. Every day is a sequence of decisions you take. Make sure they are conscious decisions of the human being you are.

Yours,

Martina Violetta Jung

Hyper-Social

by Francois Gossieaux and Ed Morgan.

Social media are changing our working world, our companies and our organizations. In social media we behave like human beings do in tribes and these tribes form new successful business communities. They center around the human being and his or her network. The tribes are agile and lead a life of their own. read more

The process of life takes us through constant changes, daily in our jobs as well as on a personal level. Our company secretary, who covers our backs with the administration, just announced her resignation. She is someone my wife, Martina and I rely on, so this change is a factor that we need to take into our stride, in an already busy schedule. We will need to restructure our working conditions. And train someone new, who would fit as well to our needs. This could take a lot of energy. If we do not pay attention to the way in which we feel emotionally about the changes that we go through, there are bound to be consequences. This has been my observation from over thirty years experience of working with people as a psychotherapist and coach. My company is not called People in Process for nothing. I practice what I teach. read more

Who Moved My Cheese Cover

Some years ago, Spencer Johnson published the book „Who moved my Cheese?“ to help people understand and deal with change in any aspect of their lives in a more proactive way. For the German market, the self-help book was transformed into a management parable with the title „Mize Strategy for Managers“. In essence the author’s advice in both versions is:
